✨ OCTOBER 14, 2026, AT 7:30 PM (UTC +1 / PARIS) - “HOLDING THE BORDER: THE WOLF, FEAR, AND THE TEST OF THE COMMON GOOD”
Come explore a fascinating topic: how the wolf is perceived across different European countries and cultures. Why did France exterminate the wolf in the 19th century, while Romania and Poland maintained stable populations under often more challenging conditions? This lecture begins with an observation that shifts the usual line of inquiry. Neither economics nor ecology alone can fully explain these vastly different trajectories. What explains them are the stories—the living myths capable of assigning the predator a recognized place in a shared world—and what happens when these stories collapse.
Lecture presented by Irina Andryushchenko-Basquin, a systemic psychologist, organizational consultant, trained in applied ethology and animal studies, and founder of Wolf Project France.
